Egleston Square Peace Garden Community Engagement Consultant

Working in coordination with the Friends of the Egleston Square Peace Garden, which includes Egleston Square Main Street, Greater Egleston High School, partner organizations, small businesses, neighbors, and volunteers, the Community Engagement Consultant will facilitate activities and communications in both English and Spanish to support the viability of the Peace Garden.  

The Peace Garden, located on the corner of Washington and School Streets in Egleston Square on the border of Roxbury and Jamaica Plain, Boston has served as a community gathering space for two decades. There is now a deliberative process that will determine if and when the Garden will transition to a city-owned public park or if the land will be offered for private development. 

The Community Engagement Consultant will facilitate advocacy and community organizing including outreach, regular communications, meeting planning, as well modest programming in coordination with concerned residents, neighborhood organizations, small businesses, and other interested parties. In addition, the Consultant would maintain and update social media platforms and the Peace Garden website.

This independent contractor position is anticipated to last approximately four months, with a stipend of $4,000 granted through a private foundation and administered by Egleston Square Main Street. 

Candidates must be bilingual in English and Spanish and available both in-person and remotely for organizing work in Egleston Square. The opportunity may be ideal for a retiree or college student interested in working in the community or gaining relevant experience but all who are interested are encouraged to apply.
